      Writing in my books would be sacrilegious – except for highlighting in textbooks and bibles. 😉

      However, I might have made an exception with Sherlock Holmes because of the Firesign Theater connection (Hemlock Stones, the Great Defective in The Giant Rat of Sumatra), but many of my Sherlock Holmes books are audiobooks. LOL! 😉

    I thought you really write in your books, because of your tagline. The message on your tag line’s similar to Mortimer Adler’s How to Mark a Book.

    Ah, I see. I just loved that quote.Especially in our new ‘protected’ world.

    No, not generally. I like to keep my books in tact for the most part. Very rarely have I marked a book…even my own. 😉

    Not that I haven’t been tempted. If I want to remember something in a book, I have been known to leave a bookmark of some kind at the page I wish to remember for future reference.

    I was also that kind of book owner until I read Mortimer Adler’s How to Mark a Book. It’s an article that persuades people to mark their own book.

    Marking up a book is a great way of preserving your thoughts/questions/reactions.

    Well, I know I can’t persuade you to mark your own book, I think Adler can.

    Great article! Books that I own myself, and not as a co-owner (my hubby and me jointly own most of them), I have been known to mark them. 🙂

    Those that are mine entirely like my Bible, or my textbooks, if they are only mine then I do mark them.

    But those that are more jointly co-owned, I don’t feel comfortable doing that because it gets in the way when others try to read them.

    Of course, don’t mark a book that isn’t entirely yours. I actually don’t lend my marked book to anyone (except my sisters. I allow them to read my marked books).
